Safe Mode Won't Run... Computer Just Keeps Booting

Hello there,

I have recently run into some issues on my machine that runs Windows 7. I can't run Windows Media Player; it just says the file name and then "Server Execution Failed".

I was advised to go into safe mode and type a command into cmd. However, safe mode would not work. At first I thought it was an F8 problem, so I was advised to go into msconfig > boot and change the system to boot into safe mode. I did that to find that safe mode gets into the driver loading screen and stops at windows\system32\drivers\ClassPnP.sys and seems to load. It shows the cursor, but then disappears and my computer reboots. However, since my computer is set to load into safe mode, it constantly tries to log into safe mode, which doesn't seem to work, so it just restarts, tries to go into safe mode, but can't, so it restarts again, going through the process again and again.

I have tried pressing "Delete" key at the beginning of boot up, but it does not show any thing else I can boot from. When I do get the F8 thing working, I select "Boot Windows Normally" but it just goes straight to the bootup of safemode.

I have an Acer Aspire M3800 that only has the factory restore discs that Acer eRecovery Management has asked me to make when I first bought my computer. I obtained Windows 7 through the "free upgrade" program Acer is running.

Please help... thank you.

All computers are different, some use f12 others f2 others delete. When you begin to boot up repeatedly tap on f12, if that does not work try f2,. If you cannot get it to work look up the key in your computer manual. You are trying to get into bios, where you can adjust the boot order. Dell and most computers use f12, but you have an Acer.

Thank you Richard for your reply.

So if I am understanding you correctly, I can go into the BIOS and change it so it doesn't boot to safe mode automatically? Because my main problem is that my computer forces boot up to safe mode, but since that doesn't work, just creates a whole cycle of rebooting in an attempt to run safe mode, so I cannot actually get into any sort of Windows 7; safe mode or not.

EDIT: I've fixed the problem. I figured out the safe mode button and I got to the boot selection screen. I just selected the one that had to do with booting the best last known configuration setting and it worked; I got into safe mode finally, but this time, set msconfig to stop booting to safe mode automatically. My Windows Media Player "Server Execution Failed" error is still not fixed though. :(

Thanks again Richard for your reply.

Glad to hear your boot problem has been resolved, but that still leaves the question of WMP12.

What video codecs are you using? It may be possible that whatever pack you have installed isn't 100% Windows 7 compatible, and this is causing the "Server Execution Failed" error.

If you havn't yet installed any codec packs, try this one: Shark007.

Thank you Dzmonlija for the response.

I have not installed any codec packs at all since installing Windows 7, let alone since purchasing my computer. I will try the one provided and hopefully that will work. WMP12 just randomly began doing this, so I am not sure what I could have done that resulted in this.

Thanks again.

Edit: Installed it and it still didn't help...
