safe mode

How do I boot up into safe mode now? Before my mobo/CPU replacement I had several F key options I could press to get me into different OS modes. There would be this black screen just for a split second that would, if selected at that time would to take you to safe mode, bios, system recovery. Those key were F2, F10 and F11. Now I don't have that option, all I have is with the new Asus mobo is delete key to get into bios. Is there a key to press at boot up to accomplish this now.

Hello Jimbo,

You should be able to press and tap F8 every other second during boot to enter the Advanced Boot Options screen to then select Safe Mode to boot into.

Thanks bink for that tutorial but unfortunately the F8 key did not work for me. The F8 key brung up a window for to choose the boot order of CD/DVD drive and my two hard drives. After looking through some of the older post of the tutorial I saw an option with the F5 key. That worked for me. The first screen was a black screen to select an OS with some options to choose from at the bottom and to continue press F8 key I hit that key and up popped the screen that's in your tutorial. I wonder if this is an issue with and upgrade of 7 versus a clean install.

Umm, not sure why, but I'm happy that you got it sorted. May be something that is just particular with your motherboard.
