Solved Safe to delete Windows Backup [for disk image]I restore point?

I want to keep the disk image for a possible future system restore, but if the restore point listed as Windows Backup is deleted, will I be able to restore Windows from that image? In other words, is the disk image reliant on that specific restore point in order to function properly? Thanks in advance.

Not that I`m aware of, an image and a restore point are 2 totally separate things.

You should be making frequent images.

Restore point do have limited size and number of restore point.

If the restore point use a small size.
When the new restore point is creating, and if the storage space size is less than the restore point, older restore point will be removed.

Image is create at the point of creation.

So as what @AddRAM mentioned, it is different between both.

I would not be confident that that are NOT connected, particularly if making an image results in an entry in the System Restore points list.

But I don't use and would not rely on Windows Backup anyway.

I do use and rely on System Restore points occasionally and have found them to be 98% reliable over time---but they aren't a replacement for imaging.

Macrium Reflect Free Edition or Aomei Backupper.

I personally use Macrium.
