Solved Safely Remove Hardware External HD Still running

When I click to Safely Remove Hardware (External HD) the LED light is still on and I can feel the HD still running even though the bubble comes up that says you can safely remove hardware. Is This normal as I don't want to have to keep shutting PC down to remove HD

Yes, normal.
Safely Remove Hardware is only handling things on the Windows end of things. It tells you that the OS has stopped writing and you can disconnect without fear of losing data. The external drive will remain on, connected, and spinning until you disconnect it.

Thanks TVeblen is this the same with xbox360 if I've turned xbox off and the LED is still on and HD is still running can I just unplug USB from xbox I was just worried about losing backed up music , games etc.

If you've done Safely Remove then there should be no ill effects!
