Hi guys, i bought a 'replacement' battery off eBay, it does state below it is "Genuine Samsung Cells" but i doubt it, what use to happen before i formatted my laptop was when i plugged the laptop in to the mains it use to restart instantly and when i put it to sleep it restarts, i complained to the seller, and he suggested a reinstall, which so happened fixed the issue.

4 months later now though same thing has happened again, i dont really want to format, and i'm not sure if the battery is truly at fault (or more likely i cant prove it), it was fine and NEVER did such a thing with the ori battery

Yes you were, sorry about that.
In your code, it doesn't say that battery is for a P510? I don't think a battery would cause your issues. Have you tried with the battery removed and plugging in to your mains only?

Touché
I did try this several months ago and the out come was the battery at fault.

I have just tried several boots then, sleep and hibernate and yes every time it went to sleep it simply restarted.
But also the issue i get aswel is the laptop having only what i can describe as a electrical short.
When plugging the charger into it, the laptop again will just instantly restart i.e. back to post BIOS beep.

Just done a clean install of ultimate n SP1 with only changes to services and no other system changes, just installed also Samsung chipset drivers, i am still about 40 latest updates behind from M$

And yes it doesn’t say for p510 but the part numbers match from the ori battery

Hmm, maybe the battery connections are faulty, loose, or bent. Could be dirty too, in the laptop, try the pencil eraser trick and rub it on the connectors to clean away any unseen corrosion.
Do I understand correctly:
The computer restarts when you try to go to Sleep mode?
If you plug in the mains, with the computer powered down, it restarts.

You should have Sleep disabled when Plugged in, and enabled to, say, 15 minutes on battery. From your text attachment you have the opposite.

its not the battery connections, it did look like to be battery several months ago, but currently it does it on mains only, so its not connectors

yes when i sleep, - it turns on and goes to BIOS screen straight away instead of waking up
when i hibernate, - it turns on and goes to BIOS screen straight away instead of waking up
IF it goes to sleep ok, - it turns on and goes to BIOS screen straight away instead of waking up

and yes i did have that, but after a clean install of ultimate x64 N it still does the same, so all windows settings have gone.

latest energy report after format.

Code:
Platform Power Management Capabilities:Supported Sleep States
Sleep states allow the computer to enter low-power modes after a period of inactivity. The S3 sleep state is the default sleep state for Windows platforms. The S3 sleep state consumes only enough power to preserve memory contents and allow the computer to resume working quickly. Very few platforms support the S1 or S2 Sleep states.
S1 Sleep Supported false
S2 Sleep Supported false
S3 Sleep Supported true
S4 Sleep Supported true
This is kind of interesting, saying some of the sleep states are supported. Is there power or suspend state setting accessible in your BIOS? If so set it to S3.

mmm yes fairly strange. just checked BIOS no power settings within there, which is strange but conceivable

it does say at the end of that sentence "Very few platforms support the S1 or S2 Sleep states"

so its what is supported by OS, so windows 7 must only support S3, S4

You might try the Default power settings for Balanced and Power saving. Gotta admit this is odd and I don't know what else to try.:(
Yes, S3 should be the default for most BIOSes.

FN+F11 let go of both buttons then FN+F12

just changed some basic (advance) BIOS settings (i.e. only what i know is what) still no sleep settings within their though, but it has just worked fine going to sleep for the last 4 months on my ori install of ultimate 64 N
