I am going to buy some Sata Data Cables. The ad I saw said "Straight to 90 degree left". I had not thought about the direction in the past. I held up a cable and I guess it depends which way you are holding it as to if it is left or right. What is the normal cable, left or right?

The nomenclature is rather weird, they should have been called "up" and "down."

If the drive is sitting on a table, right-side-up, and you're looking at the connector end, then:

Left = Cable goes up

Right = Cable goes down

Interesting. Do they go both ways? Uh, what I mean is, are there cables available that go in the opposite direction from the one pictured?

Thanks very much for the explanation. I had determined that one would make the cable go up and one down, but could not decide which was which.

Yes, though they are harder to find. I have a similar one to the one pictured that has one end the same as the one pictured and the other end is 180° (straight). The bent end is plugged into a HDD and bends out and over the SATA power connector.

Usually, when SATA cable connector direction is expressed in degrees, with the cable held flat, 90° is bent down, 180° is straight, and 270° is bent up (those are also hard to find)

I am looking for that exact cable you have on your HDD. Who makes it, and where can I purchase?
Thank You.
