THIS IS SUCH A PAIN. after losing power to my computer in the middle of accessing the drive info,it still is recognized as a device but not detected anywhere else. i can bring up the drive on the hd low level disk tool but it reads as unknown an unallocated and when i tried to initialize it,i received a error command. since then it wont even give me the option anymore to initialize it. ive tried going to properties on the drive and pushing for the volume which reads zero, and reloadind new drivers. also tried intializing and activating it with manual disk commands. i know its still spinning and works. if i could just get it to initialize or activate or show up in the bios etc...i could begin trying to repair it with the necessary tools/apps. ANY IDEAS?? IS IT TIME TO THROW IT OUT OR CAN IT STILL BE SAVED??
Does it show up in Windows disk management? Being a USB device it may not show up in the BIOS where you think it should. I don't think it will show up along with your internal drives. Don't you already have a thread about this on the go?
