Solved SATA HDD format causes BOOT failure

hello. my desktop has 2 SATA HDDs. WD 1TB SATA6 & SAMSUNG 160GB SATA3. I was doing Windows 7 installation on the 1st HDD(WD) using the 2nd one(Samsung). I formatted that by NTFS, then copied files from my Win7 disc, made that HDD active, & went for install. all went fine. installation was nicely completed. but the problem is that there was no SYSTEM RESERVED partition created which always happens if u do the install using DVDs. and then when I eject the HDD, I think maybe this is obvious, the OS failed to boot. but when I reconnect that HDD again, OS boots up successfully. it is certainly different but what is happening there?

Did you have both drives hooked up when you did the Clean Install of Windows 7?

Yes, of course. Both the HDDs were connected. and unfortunately I cannot post a screenshot of Disk Management. last night before turning off the PC I formatted the HDD which I used as the Installer. now PC won't boot up. I've to run installstion using DVD and then try out again I guess.

From reading you post it seem to me you need to do a Clean Install.

Thanks for the help. Got the solution. the SYSTEM RESERVED Partition was playing the game. The 2nd HDD always contained those BCD codes even after I setup Windows on the 1st HDD. thats why it didn't let me to boot up without the HDD. Thanks to all.
