Save attachments from e-mail window

This has been annoying me for ages now, i finally thought i'd seek out a solution!

When you receive an e-mail with multiple attachments on, if you select just one of the attachments and right click and select Save As, you get a full screen window opens up that is in effect the same Windows Explorer, with the options there to create New Folder, etc.

Yet when you select all the attachments in one go, and select Save All, it opens up a small window with no options there to Create new Folder......

why does Save All give you this poxy small window, and Save As gives you a fully functional window?

Attached is the screenshot of the small window that opens up when you select Save All, this window cannot be resized by dragging the corners which is a pain....and there is no way on it to Create New Folder..

any ideas if this can changed so i get the full page window regardless of which Save function i use? If i want to save them all to a new folder i have to keep selecting one first of all, creating the new folder and adding that one into it, then selecting Save All and they'll then go into that new folder, its like 2 steps to one thing!

More than likely you won't have the ability to change the behavior but first thing we need to know is what email client are you using? Do you see the same behavior with a different email client?

ah sorry its Windows Live Mail 2012. Its the only mail software on the PC

On the small window that opens as you have shown in your screen shot, have you clicked on "Browse" & then you can select where you want to save it. If you want a new folder in that Library, you can select New & create the folder & then paste the attachments into it.

Since Live Mail is no longer supported by Microsoft, you may want to start looking at other email clients. Perhaps one of those will work the way you prefer.

I pretty much never use "Save As" when saving email attachments. The email clients I have used all allowed drag and drop multiple attachments into any folder. Resize Email Client Window so that you can open your folder alongside. Click one attachment to highlight then [Ctrl+A] to select all attachments then drag and drop.

Maybe it doesn't work in WLM but I wouldn't know. I've never used it.

Sadly no, if you click Browse you get this small window that opens up, again there is no way on it to Create a New Folder... its very annoying! to have to choose only one attachment to then create a New Folder, then have to select all and put them in the new folder.......these smaller windows lack any functionality really

Can you recommend one worth trying? in 20 odd years i've only ever used Outlook Express and Windows Mail

I can't really recommend one. I suppose it depends upon how many email accounts you use.

Personally I use eM Client v6 old version. See release history:

In the past I've used Mozilla Thunderbird which is popular and many members use it. I've also used most other available free email clients.

I use Thunderbird (from Mozilla, same folks that do FireFox).

I used WLM for a long time but when MS stopped supporting my Hotmail account, it was time to move on. Thunderbird is a good substitute for me.
