Saving new .AVI files randomly saves to Documents library ?

Trying to save new .AVI files to internal D:\ HDD . . . . . (C:\ is SSD)

To my knowledge, cache has never been cleared ... (wife's PC)

SevenForums-Tutorials ... I cannot find anything specific to Windows Explorer
- the Google search cannot cope with more than one concept, either cache OR WinExp, but not both :shock:

My knowledge of "cache" is zero + 0.5
What cache should I clear and how would I do that ?

Bit confused with what you are trying to do here!! Where are the .AVI files coming from? Can you not just go to the folder you want to save an AVI file to and click "Save". I cant see where "Cache" comes in to the equation
You say in your post title "saves to Documents library". Are you fmiliar with how the Lirary featureworks in Windows 7?Any file showing in a folder under Libraries is just a link to the file!

Backing up DVDs to AVI files ?
Several DVDs for a TV series
as each DVD is processed and the resulting AVI is saved "SaveAs" randomly defaults to Documents,
where as all previous AVIs during the same session were saved to a D:\folder1\folder2\MySeriesName
once the wrong folder is corrected, saving (during the same session) , defaults to D:\folder1\folder2\MySeriesName until the random problem repeats.

No other files of any kind are created during all the AVIs produced

Cache ... in my ignorance I assumed something might be causing WinExp to trip over itself.
I dont use the Libraries, they are hidden on WinExp, comes from Win-95 days, when I used C:​

Doesn't really make sense, can you explain better please?
If as you say Librares are hidden as you don't use them. how come you say

randomly defaults to Documents

It might help if you explained what you are trying to do step by step.

Have given a bit more thought to this thread and have come to this conclusion:
You have saved some TV programs and recorded them on DVD's in AVI format?
You now wish to copy the created files to an internal hard drive on your computer?
Am I correct so far?

I am not ignoring the numerous questions ...

The PC is not mine ... My wife is physically disabled, it is her PC .... I set it up for her many years ago to save videos/audios to a NAS so she doesn't have to (cannot) jump up to change discs.

Unfortunately she is not available at the moment to try and nail down what happens and when.
We are (she is) using WinX Platinmum to backup movies to an internal HDD (D:\) ultimately moved onto NAS
Having (myself) forgotten exactly how WinX works, I will not know where the 'Save" process starts, and whether WinX use a default MS-Windows SaveAs (there are two in Win-7) or WinX own SaveAs dlg.
- the latter might (for all I know) not represent her Win-Explorer setup.

Without investigation (on my part) the problem might be in WinX with a WinX list of folders not keeping its own MRU list up to date. Once my beloved gets a 'Documents" path, corrects it, and maybe the WinX MRU list is "rectified" for a while ?

When she is available I will get back to you here with a clearer outline of "what" and "when"
