So like half the world I got RTM from MSDN yesterday, with hopes of installing today. Well for the past 10 hours I have been trying to get this OS installed on a Asus M4A79T Deluxe motherboard with the AMD SB750 RAID drivers and unfortunately I have come upon some woes that I hope you all might be able to shed some light on.

In the
RC the drivers were not present, as is the case with the current RTM, the process I would have to go thorough is as follows:

1. Click Next at the Language select screen
2. Click Install Now at the Install screen
3. Accept Terms and Next
4. Choose Custom install
5. It is at this point where I run into the lack of a driver with the RC, no drives are listed at the Where do you want to install Windows? screen.
6. Click Load Driver
7. A message box pops up indicating To install the device driver needed to access your hard drive, insert the installation media containing the driver files, and then click OK. It is at this time that I click Browse
8. The browse for folder menu pops up and I navigate to my USB drive (have used a CD in the past) and select the AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller and click Next
At this point everything is good, the driver gets loaded and I continue on my merry way with the install of the RC.

The RTM, however, is much, much different:
1. Click Next at the Language select screen
2. Click Install Now at the Install screen
3. (unlike the RC, no terms yet) It is at this point where I run into the lack of a driver with the RTM, thus a Load Driver popup comes up indicating A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash device please insert it now. This is similar to what happened in step 7 above. It is at this time that I insert my USB key and click Browse
4. The browse for folder menu pops up and I navigate to my USB drive (have used a CD in the past) and select the AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller and click Next
5. About five minutes of time and I receive the following error:
No new devices could be found. Make sure that the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media.

Excuse me...what? The drivers are right there! I have them highlighted! So I click OK on the error popup and choose Browse again to repoint to the driver....but wait...WHAT? WHAT WHAT WHAT? All of my drives on the RAID controller are now showing up in the Browse box, indicating that the driver has been loaded!

No matter how many times I try and click Next (not that clicking it a bunch of times is going to change anything) I cannot proceed in the install.

Any ideas would be appreciated...as well as instructions on how to slipstream drivers into the Win7 RTM build. I figure if I can do that I might be able to get past this problem.

welcome to sevenforums!
for your trouble...i really dont know why. Maybe there were some compatibility issues with the drvers? but it worked with the rc....
report the issue to microsoft...
have you tried installing the rtm again? or maybe the disk image was faulty.

Same problem, can't find a driver for the SB750 Raid that works, AMD site or anywhere else, can load Vista with the drivers I have but not Win7. MD5 sum on the disk is OK and others in our office have not had this problem on intel platforms.

Anybody with any suggestions?

As far as I understand, RTM version, unlike RC version, strictly requires the drivers to be digitally signed by MS if you use x64 Win 7. The damn AMD (unlike Intel) did NOT yet release WHQL certified Win 7 version of their SB7xx raid/ahci driver.

I had the same problem as you guys have, as one of my PC is AMD 790FX chipset one. Anyhow after some search, I found only Vista x64 WHQL driver, the latest version is called "SB750_RAID_driver_WHQL_SB7xx_RAID_Vista_3.1.1540.127". This driver worked on the "load driver" screen when you install Win 7 RTM. I forgot where I got that driver. (station-driver, ASUS or Gigabyte site). You can google the name of driver as I put above.

Finally, a new driver came today from AMD. go to ATI Catalystâ„¢ Display Driver

Download SB and Raid driver at the bottom of the page. (version 9.8)

Hope this one works w/o any problem.

Within that file, it is the exact same raid drive that is displayed on the main site dated back in may. 3.1.1540.127

Wish there were RAID drivers updated for windows 7!! :(

I have the same problem when installing Windows 7 64bit RTM.
My RAID is also the SB750
And I am using the gigabyte MA-790X-UD4 motherboard.

Is there already a solution for this problem found?

Same here (Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4). Couldn't find signed windows 7 64 bits driver. I had 2 disks only. Deleted the array and connected the cables on to white SATA ports instead (SATA 6-7, Marvell 9128, SATA3) then I did the RAID0 configuration in setup\integrated peripherals.
To my surprise windows 7 64 didn't even ask for a driver this time and did see the RAID0 :)

Count me in...

So far i have not found a solution to this, other than installing 32 bit Win7. That isn't a solution though, as i have 8gigs ram that I need to use... not to mention I resent being forced to lose performance over this asinine issue. Either MS needs to lighten up with the signature requirement or AMD needs to own up and pay for the signature!

This is my work system. I designed the IT department's PC's, all are like this. My home system is an Intel i7 based system with 6gigs of DDR trichannel ram, a LianLi aluminum case, and 3 500gb drives in a raid 5. It blows away my work PC. I built the work pc's in October '08, my home pc around Feb 09, and they ended up costing about the same!
xp then upgrade to win 7

i had to revert back to xp then upgrade to win 7. The drivers load in xp for my raid but in the same case will not load for 7. Long pain in the butt process but it works.

good luck to ya

I tried those drivers, but thanks theog.

Quentin... really? XP 64bit to Win7 64 bit worked? I'm not opposed to that method if it works. I'd need to be sure it was going to work though, before going through all that.

That's how I got mine to work, had the same problem as you but I used xp to find my array and once I had xp up and running wit all the current updates and drivers I just did a new install with win 7 and my array was all ready there. I didn't even have to load the drviers for the array. I know its kinda of the long way around it but it's the only way I could get it to work. Good luck to ya!

I know this is way old thread but I ran into same prob. Never found a newer driver since. Now I use image saved to external and just wipe raid clean and restore. My image only includes win 7 with all drivers up to date SP1 and Norton 360. Works like a charm. I too use to have to start from xp, then install vista, then 7. Unfortunately, I didn't have a floppy so I couldn't setup raid until vista because that's when they started using USB drives. Also, before making image, shrink partition, then create image. After restoring, expand it t use your full raid drives. Hope this helps
