scanning to wordpad

Hello everyone,not sure if i`m in the right forum but everytime i scan a document into my computer and try to open it with wordpad all i get is a jumble of symbols, letters and i think there are some numbers in there as well,I let windows find the drivers for my printer so maybe i have something set wrong, anyhelp will be much appreciated.

Try opening the scanned file in Paint, and see what happens. If it opens ok, then you're scanning you documents as images, and you'll need OCR software in order to convert them to an editable format that would be recognized by Wordpad.

Strange that your scanner does not include OCR software. Check your user manual.

Otherwise, the suggestion made by marsmimar should be sufficient...

I think the scanner may be part of a Printer/Scanner/Fax machine. Often OCR is not included as part of the software pacage whereas it normally is with a dedicated scanner!
