I have been getting many Schannel 36888 and 36884 errors, the details are the same for both.

The following fatal alert was generated: 43. The internal error state is 552.

The certificate received from the remote server does not contain the expected name. It is therefore not possible to determine whether we are connecting to the correct server. The server name we were expecting is locate.madserver.net. The SSL connection request has failed. The attached data contains the server certificate.

Can anyone help me please?

It looks like these Schannel Events are being caused by Splinter Cell Conviction. I noticed that the time of the errors are consistent with the lauching and playing of Splinter Cell Conviction. I have a few Ubisoft games Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood and they seem to be OK. But when I launch Splinter Cell Conviction the errors start showing up.

I can confirm. Theese errors do not happend to me without a reason. So that is why I was confused. After reading post above, I realized I bought SC Conviction and played at time when errors occur. No need to search another reasons or "fix" another stuffs sugested to this error ;o) Thanks mate for pointing this.

Best Regards

Hanzales

I have found a fix (sort of) for these error logs. If you are comfortable with going into the registry you can at least stop the errors from being logged. It doesn't stop the errors just the logging. Anyway here's the fix.

Go into the registry to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL

Create a DWORD value and name it "EventLogging" (without quotes) with a value of "0" this will eliminate such event log messages. The error may still occur but without a log entry being generated.

Thanks a lot for tip. No problem to change registry values. I'm doing back up of registry key each time there is something added/changed/removed)
It's only type of error (well next to some occasionally DNS errors) in my event log, so this can help at least keep my event logs clean :)
I just worried something messed up somewhere but good to know it's caused by SC Conviction in this case and there is no need to try follow a lot of advices around the internet regarding this errors and mess up my system with unnecessary tips. ;o)
