Hi guys, not totally sure where this should go, please feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place.

I've only had my laptop since September, it's a Toshiba Sattelite Pro L450-17K and it's running Windows 7. Recently, I turned it on and the screen orientation is all wrong. There's a black bar about an inch thick running down the left hand side of the screen and the start bar is off the bottom - seems like the screen is too narrow and too long. I've tried playing about with the resolution but the bar still stays and the screen's off the bottom. I've downloaded all the latest display drivers but with no avail - it seems to do this 9 times outta 10 that I turn it on but very occassionally it's just like it should be.

Also, I've noticed today that in my C drive there is a folder named "Program Files" and one named "Program Files x 86" and I have absolutely no idea why. It's taking up masses of space - seems like everything is installed twice! I don't know how to fix that either...if anyone could help?

Thanks

I think I'm right in saying the x86 Program Files folder contains 32-bit programs and the other folder is for 64-bit.
This isn't a fault or problem, it's the way it is.

See if DPI is the problem

If that does not work, its the monitor. Get your manual to see how to adjust screen. Its there, just find it. If you cant find you manual, give me the information, I will try on line.

If you have 64 bit one folder for 32 the other for 64.

I tried the DPI and it's not made any difference, it's set to "Smaller" at the moment and it only gives me the option for medium - tried it and it just made everything on the screen bigger...but still off the monitor.

I'm not totally sure where the manual is - how easy would it be for you to find it online? I don't wanna put you out unnecessarily.

Ehm, it's a laptop so other than saying it's a Toshiba Sattelite Pro L450-17K (Which I just read off the bottom :p) I'm not really sure what else I can call it?
