after many issues lve finally got the system up and running.

lm using the same gfx card as l used to the Radeon 4650 HD after installing the cards drivers it seems to cause issues where the monitor gives me an "unsupported" resolution error when on my previous setup said card had no trouble going to 1350*768 (cant seem to go above 1024*768 without having to roll back drivers)

Does the monitor have a driver? Is it installed?

thats the thing, originally before in the old system it picked everything up fine.. but for some reason this time its picking it up as a generic plug and play monitor and every time l install my gfx drivers my screen goes blue and my monitor says its an unsupported resolution.. which leads me to believe that the issue is the monitor rather than gfx drivers..

l have looked about for drivers but l cant seem to find anything relating to it.. lm finding it highly strange because it should pick it up as standard due to XP having support for it as lve used this TV/monitor for a long time before having Windows 7.

I've been having similar issue with a fresh install of windows.

Load the system then load the video driver, reboot & all I got was the wallpaper & a mouse icon. I had to get to the screen resolution & set one monitor as the main one. I have two hooked up. Rebooted & this time no issues at all.

This has happened a number of times with fresh installs. (won't go into why I had repeatedly install. :D)

Makes you wonder if something is going on with either windows or the video drivers at the moment.

Once using the screen on board does it deliver the same issue..? Have you tried starting up in VGA mode?? What card are you using?

Can you start up in safe mode fine?

thought l would add to this thread, lve taken a look in the bios to see if l could turn off the on board VGA but it seems all l can do is switch between what seems to be 3 PCI labelled devices and one which is not.
