Screen Resolution

Hi,
I just got a new laptop with Windows 7 and everything was working fine. Then I turned it off and turned it back on and now a little pop-up comes up and says my screen resolution isn't right (meant to be 1366 x 768). So, i went to "screen resolution" and... It said 1366 x 768... so now I'm really confused and not sure what to do because a couple of my games don't work and what have you.

I guess the System is not using most update Display drivers. First download and update the most current display drivers then go to Screen resolution and adjust the resolution until it finds the best one.

Follow Jacks advice, plus some of your games may only play with certain resolutions say (800x600) or (1024x768) etc. Some badly written games will change the resolution and forget or not change it back to what you had set before the game ran. Windows is telling you that you are not using the native resolution for your monitor that is why you are getting the message. To play some of the games you may have to change the resolution to make them work.

Just wanted to reinforce the feedback so far and, following WindowsStar's line of thought, call to mind that many older games that ran in 95 or 98 (and some XP games) required not only a max of 800 x 600 (or less) but also 256 colors.

Thus, one thing to try is to install/launch such games in COMPATIBILITY MODE (right-click the installer and/or *.exe file, click on <Properties> select the <Compatibility> tab in the window, tick the "run this program in compatibility mode" box and then, from the drop-down menu select an earlier version of Windows. Then, below that under <Settings> you see a variety of options including colors, resolution, etc. Experiment around and see if you can dial in a fix.
