I have a brand new computer. It is an HP Compaq Pro 6300. I run Windows 7 Pro.

My screen saver and my power settings never kick in. I have searched the internet for answers. Nothing I tried has helped. I had a session with HP tech support, they couldn't figure it out.

It is annoying to have to manually shut off my screen each night. Any hints will be appreciated.

Are you saying you leave your pc on when you`re not using it overnight ? OMG How cruel :(

But seriously, turn it off when you`re not using it JMO.

But, if you try to start the screensaver manually, does it run ?

What time do you have it set to shut off the monitor ? That rarely fails.

Are using a wireless keyboard and mouse ?

If it`s brand new, and not doing everything you want it to, I would take it right back. There is no reason to be unhappy with it.

I can run screensaver manually in preview.

ten minutes

No

That would be a major pain. I'd like to avoid that if possible.
