I set my screensaver for two minutes to check that it works properly. I have Windows Media Player running, and after 5 minutes, it still hasn't kicked in. Does it not work if WMP is running? I haven't touched the mouse or keyboard.

Depends on what is running - is it a film or music? 7 might disable it then.

In search type screen saver, go to turn screen saver on and off. Make sure that the time is set correctly and that you have a screen saver indicated and not none. Set it for at least 5 minutes.

Music should not have an effect

I right clicked on desktop
Clicked personalize
Selected screensaver on bottom rt
Selected screensaver
Set the time
checked "on resume display logon" box
Hit apply
Then Ok

I do also have Utorrent running, but it seems to me that that shouldn't effect it.

Open WMP12 and go to Organize -> Options -> Player
Check the option Allow screensaver during playback

µTorrent tends to steal window focus in a strange way from WMP12, but I have only experienced this when running WMP's visualizations in fullscreen, not screensavers, so this definitely works... for music.

I am having this problem with video playback on WMP. When I used to have Vista, I would watch a video before going to bed, and the monitor would go to screensaver and shut off after the video had finished. Ever since using Win7, WMP would keep the monitor on throughout the night. Essentially disabling the screensaver. I could check the Allow Screensaver During Playback option, but I wouldn't want it to come on while I'm watching. Is there any way to fix this problem?

Another way I've been trying to work around this is to set the Allow Screensaver During Playback option on, and setting my screensaver to go off in 45 minutes. But I wouldn't want to always have to keep changing these setting every time.
