Currently have Flash installed. Now receiving warnings that Flash is out of date. Download the downloader from Adobe and while attempting to install the updated version I keep getting the following error message and installation stops:
I'll admit it...I'm clueless when it comes to sciprt errors.
What browser are you using when you tried to download Flash?
You system specs indicate that your browser is named Iron. (Which I think is Chrome reworked by the folks at SRWare.) You should probably update that browser if you really are on version 36..... (or remove the version number - if you are not updating your info with each release.)
I do apologize for the delay in my response. You are correct on all fronts. I do use Iron and was using v. 36, but per your post I begrudgingly updated to v. 42. Flash was the primary reason I stick with v. 36 because it was not buggy. So I update and get the exact same script error.
In checking the plugins page it shows the following:
When I click on the Download Critical Security Update link the following page launches: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/6258784
This is fruitless as Iron does not have pepperflash.
So if I go to Adobe's download page for Flash and attempt to download the newest version, the installer downloads, but when I click on the installer I get the script errorand then this on the Adobe website:
Got to admit I'm totally lost on this one. Seems like the only left to try is to uninstall flash from my system and attempt to download the current version. I dunno?

It now states that you are using version 42...
However, the latest stable version seems to be 43....
I will install the Iron browser and see if I can create the steps needed to get the latest Flash installed for you, but I need to know which Iron browser you have - 32bit or 64bit. See this forum post (which also has a link to a thread on installing Flash).
Also, if you want to stick with version 42, then can you provide a link where I can download the exact one that you installed?

The download site for v. 42 was here and does not differentiate 32 vs. 64 bit.Index of /old I know that 43 is the latest version, but I always check the forums on the latest release and the one preceding it, and simply from what I read I will install what I think is the most stable. Call it a quirk.
UPDATE: All links provided in SRWare's forum or the Adobe site are links to download Adobe's online downloader. Started looking around and of course Adobe has cease and desist actions against all the major software download sites. But at Major Geeks they give the same info except they provide two links...one for an .exe and the other for an .msi. Because Adobe's online downloader is an .exe I decided to select the link to download the .msi from Adobe. Lo and behold the entire 18.7MB Flash Player downloaded. I installed the latest version without a hitch.
So the question is, does the online downloader that Adobe sends to you have the problem?? In the script error message it does point to the file that I downloaded from Adobe! I still dunno.
I did not have any luck getting Flash to work the installer for version 42 near the bottom of that link.
Starting with this thread in their forum, I installed the 32bit version and then installed Flash using the two steps from here. It worked just fine. I repeated the test for the 64bit version. It worked fine too.
@UsernameIssues - Can't thank you enough for the effort you put into this. Funny, but since being able to update Flash to the most current version of the NPAPI file , when I attempt to install the PPAPI file per the two steps at "the two steps from here" I get the same script error. Very odd.
I just now noticed your update to post #5. Maybe watching the Adobe thread that you linked to will let you know where the script problem comes from for some users.
