Hmm, then it is not the problem I had suspected.

Explanation: on some HP systems, the SD card reader power is shut off when you do a "safely remove" for the SD card. You must use an "eject" instead. A reboot will usually fix the problem.

But when your green light is on, that cannot be the problem.

As in another thread, I'll tell you what worked for me ...

I tried two different memory card readers on my desktop and both of them would fail from time to time -- using the same cards every time. Given that they would sometimes work OK, that pretty much ruled out drivers.

So, I went out and bought a cheap little memory card reader that connects using a short USB cable -- and it works ALL THE TIME. Yeah, it's a pain to have to carry it around with a laptop, but if it works, it's worth it.

Have you tried inserting another SD card you have and have previously used. Does it show its content?

... buying new USB reader is not the solution i am looking actually.

Yeah ... same here. But, when I went through the same sometimes-works-sometimes-not and tried two completely different card readers, I was looking for ANY solution that would work.

These card readers tend to be the ONE device that does not survive the upgrade of older XP machines to Win7. I've upgraded three HP multimedia XP machine to Win7 for relatives, and in all three cases, the ONLY device that would not work, even when installing the original HP device drivers, was the memory card reader.

You may luck out with drivers -- I didn't.
