SDHC in GH1, infinite directories

I have a Panasonic Lumix GH1 camera and a 32Gb SDHC card in it.
When I connect it to my Win7 x64 PC I can't get to the recorded videos, because
the directory structure goes all weird: The DCIM dir in the root folder leads back to
the root:

Code:
G:
   PRIVATE
   MISC
   DCIM
      PRIVATE
      MISC
      DCIM
         PRIVATE
         MISC
         DCIM
          .
          .
G:\DCIM\DCIM\DCIM\DCIM\DCIM\DCIM\DCIM\DCIM\...
...and so on, I never get to see what's actually inside DCIM.

Everything works fine on XP. My old 1Gb plain SD card is properly read by both XP and win 7 using this same camera.

EDIT: Not working with XP either! Sorry, I screwed it up last night...

Oh and if I connect the camera to my win 7 pc, walk around a bit in the folder
structure and then disconnect the devices, I lose all pictures taken and movies shot.

If connecting in PictBridge(PTP) mode instead of USB mass storage, then windows can
browse the image files (but the videos still don't show up).
In spite of being able to see the thumbnails of the pictures, none of them are actually
imported due to a timeout. After disconnecting the camera, the card is emptied still.

The interesting thing is that normally, by design, the memory card in the camera is
read only when managing from the PC. The only way to delete stuff would be through
the camera.

Sorry I've just realized that it doesn't work with XP either, so its obviously a card problem.
Sorry for this pointless thread. :)
(Now I've learned to never debug half asleep...)
