Search Engine Browser Crash

Hi all,

2 days ago this problem started to occur without changing any of my settings or install/uninstall anything. I don't remember if there was a windows 7 update, but if there was this could be the problem.
Whenever I go to a search engine, like google, it searches just fine, but after 2 seconds my browser crashes. I've tried it in Firefox and in Internet Explorer, so I don't think it's browser related. I've also restored all of IE's settings to default deleting cookies, history and all that junk, which doesn't help.

This problem doesn't only occur on google, but on other search engines like bling.com,vinden.nl, zoeken.nl, yahoo and so on. It doesn't seem to happen when I'm doing a search on a forum, and searching for youtube movies works just fine as well. An image of what happens can be viewed below in the attachement.

I'm running windows 7 Ultimate on a HP Compaq 8510w.
If you don't know how to solve it, but experience the same problem, please report it as well. Normally I search on google for people that have the same problem, but well yea.. this sucks :P

Ok, I don't know what the problem was, but it's fixed now.
Anyone experiencing the same problem, try this:

Go to start>>type in the search box "cmd">>right click and run as administrator>type sfc /scannow>let it run, this will take a couple of minutes and reboot your computer afterwards. Now, I don't know why, but after the reboot, in the logon screen I got a bluescreen (first one since I've used win7) :S. Another restart, and everything was fine.

so it completed the scan? you rebooted, and it still doesn't work? I don't think the problem is browser related, so changing any settings concerning the browsers probably won't help. Unfortunately I don't know too much about windows' internal settings. I'd suggest you try it again. You can also try 'sfc /VERIFYONLY', what this does is that it shows you files that might be corrupt. SCANNOW automatically tries to fix these files, if possible, so what could have happened in your case is that it found corrupt files or settings, but was not able to fix it.
Maybe 'sfc /VERIFYONLY' will give you a name of the corrupted file or setting, and I suggest you do a search on google or this forum with the information obtained from the scan.

Sorry my solution wasn't solid proof, but I'm afraid I can not help you.

ps. if you're lucky you might be able to do a system restore to a date before the problem occured. But there's no guarantee that it will not occur again.

thnx alot for your concern
i tried what u said but it didnt find any corrupted file or setting
i wana tell u some thing about this problem so u may have a solution:

1-this problem happens in IE, Firefox, Opera
each time i make search in any search engine site like "google, yahoo, imdb,..." they crashes
but google chrome works fine with all sites

2-this problem happed to me a month ago, but as soon as it happened i restarted the pc and every thing returned fine.
but when it happened las week i didnt restart immediately but waited few days "i usually use hibernate"
then i restarted the pc after 3 days but the problem was still there.

3-i was wondering if the search engines sites use some special programming language "like php, ..." "i dont know much in web programming languages" that require some certain files in windows to work

may the problem is in these files
in another words: what is special in search engines than other sites that make browser crashes???

thnx alot in advance

hope to hear from u soon

I'm still wondering what it was that made it crash and I wish I would have 'sfc verifyonly'-ed so that I actually knew what was wrong.
It could be some software interfering with what ever script these search engines use. What happens if you reboot in safe-mode with network and use the search engines?
Have you got the latest updates for windows 7?
Maybe you can post a printscreen of all the processes that are running? ctrl+shift+escape. Try eliminating some of them (in some cases your computer will not respond anymore, but it's worth a shot) and see if the browsers still crash after every closed process.

Good luck

Hello irahul, welcome to Seven Forums...

It is NEVER safe to turn off your antivirus in order to download "hacks".. You have no way of knowing what these hacks are doing to your computer...You end up leaving your system vulnerable to whatever is waiting out there.... With that said, there are a couple of things you can do.

First, run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt ... http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html?ltr=S.. this will scan the integrity of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible.

If your problem is not resolved, do a system restore to a point before your problem started...
If your problem is still not resolved, you may need to do a repair install... http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

Let us know if you need any help, and let us know if your problem is resolved.... ;)
