How do I search a flash drive? In windows 7 Pro I can only search in the C: drive.

Does the flash drive appear on Explorer?
To search a flash drive is the same thing as the C: drive.
Insert the flash drive (USB?). On Explorer, click on the flash drive and use the top right search box.

Remove the flash drive, and then go into Device Manager. Right click on the top item in the right panel, and choose "Show hidden devices." If you see any USB devices in the right panel with an error indicator, uninstall them. Then right-click on the top item in the right panel, and choose Scan for new devices.

Now plug the flash drive in and see if you can read the files on it.
