Just wondering if someone could help me pinpoint the reason for my BSOD's as it is a brand new installation with very few programmes installed. Everything is working properly (or so I thought) with no issues in Device Manager..View attachment 220935

Looks like your USB may be involved, probably your bluetooth. Best thing to do is to immediately go to Dell website and update all your drivers, including any firmware and BIOS, as they're all from 2010. If that does not resolve your issue, update/uninstall any software related to your laptop's accelerometer, as I see that's also present (and old), and if it relies on USB, then it could be related to your crashes.

Other than that, I cannot ascertain anything further from just this minidump. However if your system is very new and it's already bugging out, then you can probably bet your bottom dollar you got a defective unit, and you'll have to talk to Dell about getting it serviced or replaced.

Thanks for that. I do use a Logitech M215 Wireless Mouse, which uses the usb for its transmitter..
I will look at those drivers you mentioned and get back to you if it works out ok. The laptop is actually out of warranty now and I have just reinstalled the OS myself, so its possible I have missed a driver somewhere.Cheers.

BSOD again

I am still getting a weekly BSOD. I have followed the instructions , installed the SF Tool and attached the full zip folder. Would anyone be kind enough to have a look at these full details and give me some advice? Its only a matter of time until I lose some valuable data/work here if I can't sort it out.
#One more thing I noted - "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" was on the BSOD screen
Cheers.

There's some register values that don't match up here, which isn't really good at all. Though honestly I don't think I can get very far on this one extra minidump you've provided.

I recommend turning on Driver Verifier. Do not select the following checks: Force Pending I/O Requests, IRP Logging, and Low Resource Sim. Select all other checks. Make sure to restart system after you finish setup. If you experience a boot loop afterwards, go into Safe Mode by pressing F8 prior to Windows logo and disable DV there. Provide us any new crashdumps.

In addition, you'll wanna run Memtest86+ for at least 7 full passes (1 pass is all tests ran once) on your RAM. While I doubt bad RAM is the case here as both crashdumps I see from you (dated 11th and 25th) exhibit the same exact behavior, it's still worth a check. It's also good to verify what USB devices you have connected right now and confirm that all such devices are Windows 7 compatible (or at least have updated drivers that are such). Also make sure you are using 64-bit versions of drivers, as sometimes - despite Windows' valiant effort with WOW64 - 32-bit drivers can crack on in 64-bit environments (provided they even manage to install in the first place). Lastly, concerning your mouse, it's best to check it for any firmware updates.

Hello again Vir. Bad news from me again i'm afraid. I followed all your steps. Rams fine. Ran verifier for over 24 hours and then had another BSOD just a few minutes ago. This time however the BSOD screen seemed to lock up at the point where it said "Initialising disk for crash dump", I waited for over 10 minutes and then did a reset. I don't know if it made a proper dump. Could you please advise if I need to do it again?

That happens when something went wrong with disk I/O in where it's locked up and could not properly write to the disk. Any disk drivers themselves should not really be the culprit because they use a backup of them just in case the originals get tampered/corrupted. Rather there may be some filter driver (like antivirus software) that's impeding on the process, or the disk itself is just plain bad.

This can also occur if you do not have enough space on the Windows partition to write the crashdump, or you have the minimum size of the paging file set to be too small. Make sure that the paging file is set to at least the size of your RAM. In addition, there's a hardcoded check in Windows 7 that makes sure there's at least 32GB of free disk space on the partition. If it does not pass this check, you most likely will not get a crashdump written. This may be remedied by setting your crashdumps to be small memory dumps (minidumps), which you can do by typing "advanced system settings" in start menu then clicking the Settings button under (Startup and Recovery). However, I would recommend being able to create kernel dumps as a kernel dump will provide us a lot more info to the minidumps, which are awfully restricted.

Your best bet right now is to leave DV on and just continue to experience crashes and hopefully one of them makes a crashdump. If that can't be, then the best you can do is write down from the BSOD the driver it blames (if present), the bugcheck code, and the arguments (4 hex numbers in parentheses) it mentions.

Lastly, have you updated all your drivers and any firmware from the Dell website? Also, what AV/antispyware software do you have?

Thanks again Vir.
After last nights bsod I did three things.
1.I updated my Accelerometer driver to a much newer version and even though it wasn't strictly for my model it seems to be working (actually it has now removed a warning in 'Solve PC Issues' about the current driver not being compatible with this version of windows..).
2.I was given an Intel download link to update my RST (which i've been looking for for ages) and updated that.
3.Here is the step I undertook which is the most hopeful. I uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials. In the first hour alone, after the last bsod, five "Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D" errors were registered in Event Viewer. Those errors have been plaguing me during this whole sorry mess actually.
My SSD (128gb) is actually split into 2 partitions , C-OS-60gb and E-data-60gb. C does indeed only have 29 gb free left on it and could be the reason I didn't get a dump last time. I suppose I could increase the size of C if you think that would be best.

Your partition sizes are fine.

To adequately advise you, I need following:

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Manufacturer and Model and
ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will find that in Speccy, you can select info from the display
using your mouse/touchpad and then paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

yes, you really have to unsintall Panda.

After your system is running correctly, then most certainly pick a solution that is inefficient.

Well after installing MSE it failed updating the signatures and shows about 10 of these errors "Microsoft Antimalware has encountered an error trying to update signatures", but I guess that'll sort itself out when it finally updates. Also one error with "Session failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000043" about the time it was first installed. I haven't had a "Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D" error yet though...
No BSODs yet though, but only time will tell. It can take a day or two sometimes. btw what were you looking for in the files that had changed?

HOW TO USE WINDOWS DEFENDER OFFLINE ON A USB STICK
Windows Defender Offline
· is a free standalone, bootable malware and virus remover from Microsoft.
· performs an offline scan of an infected PC to remove viruses, rootkits and other advanced malware.

Download Windows Defender Offline (about 764 kB)

You will have the choice of downloading the 32bit version (x86) or the 64 bit version (x64).
The link will help you determine whether you are running a 32 bit version or 64 bit version of Windows

NOTE!! You can download and prepare a 32 bit version using a 64 bit version of Windows
NOTE!! You can download and prepare a 64 bit version using a 32bit version of Windows.

You run the 32 bit version on a 32 bit version of Windows.
You run the 64 bit version on a 64 bit version of Windows.

The 32 bit download file name is: mssstool32.exe
The 64 bit download file name is: mssstool64.exe

For the curious, this program was originally name Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper.

INSTALLATION:
You will need an Internet Connection.
Insert 512 mB (Microsoft’s 256 mB is no longer accurate) or larger USB stick into a usb port.
Run the downloaded program--mssstool64.exe or mssstool32.exe
NEXT button
Choose the option On a USB flash drive that is not password protected
NEXT button
NEXT button
.
The install program will format the usb stick using the NTFS format.
The install program will download about 210 mB.
The install program will name the USB stick WDO_Media32 or WDO_Media64
The WDO_Media32 usb stick will have used space of 255 mB (268,140,544 bytes)
The WDO_Media64 usb stick will have used space of 282 mB (296,165,376 bytes)
You can expect the number of mB to increase as more malware appears.

UPDATE Windows Defender Offline USB stick:
· reinsert the usb stick
· run the installation program, mssstool64.exe or mssstool32.exe, again.
· the update will download about 66 mB (mssstool32.exe) and 68 mB (mssstool64.exe).

Since the malware database is sometimes updated several times in a day, always update before running.

PERFORM AN OFFLINE SCAN
Bootup your computer from the USB stick
Windows Defender Offline will automatically perform a quick scan.
After the quick scan finishes, Choose Full Scan
Select all of your drives

The initial, full scan can easily take several hours, but
Remember, your computer is being very thoroughly checked for all types of malware.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
Ok, I will have to do that all tomorrow, i've nearly burned up my dataplan for this month. So do you suspect a virus/malware from those recent errors I just mentioned? Isn't there a Windows Defender already installed? Do you mean that I should keep this offline USB version updated and use it regularly because it does a more thorough job?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for all your help.
