Second monitor not being detected.

Okay so i'm trying to use 2 monitors at the same time, with no luck. I've tried updating my drivers and some other stuff but it still won't work. I've enabled duel screens in my bios and tried manually detecting the monitor through CCC or screen resolution but it still only picks up one monitor.

Ok thinking it was the drivers I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them. Turns out that was a bad move. Now most of my applications don't open and I get boxes pop up saying they're not responding.

Hello, we need more details.

Are you trying to run one monitor off the mobo's on-board video (setting dual in bios, never heard of, but that would not likely effect a video card, any way) and one off a video card or both off the video card?

I would disable on-board and go with the video card only, and look up the details of your video cards' ports, this could be a bad or wrong adaptor, or a bad cable.

What ports are in play?

If one is a Display Port (regular or mini-DP), you need a more expensive ACTIVE cable, a passive won't handle it.

Your specs say you have an apu A-8 and your graphics card is the standard graphics card on the apu.

If your drivers are not right that could do it.

Your drivers should have come with your Mobo.

Please go to device manager and click on display adapters and tell me what it says.

Since it sounds like your drivers are not set up correctly i might think that windows installed standard vga drivers and in that case you wont have dual monitors.

Edit: since this is an apu system maybe the drivers didn't come with the mobo. Don't know I have never built desktops with apu's

Nevertheless please look on your included motherboard disk and see what is on there to install as well.

I've managed to fix the programs crashing etc by rolling back the driver version on the card. I've installed the drivers that came with the mobo. Display adapters: http://puu.sh/5Ma9o.png

Yep it looks like it is set up correctly now. The nice thing with self built desktops is they usually give you everything you need with mobo.

I have had to set up A-10 drivers on a laptop that had switchable graphics. Meaning a laptop with 2 video cards.
Now that is hard stuff lol.

First thing that needs to be answered is how are the monitors connected?

That motherboard has three display connections; HDMI, VGA and DVI-D. You can use any two of them for dual monitors. They can be any combination of the aforementioned connections,

1. VGA and DVI
2. VGA and HDMI (this one is iffy)
3. DVI and HDMI
4. DVI and HDMI using a HDMI to DVI adapter

The one connection that can't be used is the DVI port when using a DVI to VGA adapter, as the DVI port is digital only with no support for an analogue VGA signal.

to get into the other port.

That is a DVI to VGA adapter, and as I mentioned above will not work as there is no analogue support from the DVI port. The only way to get a VGA connection from that DVI port is to use a DVI to VGA converter. Something like this,

is what you need. For what converters cost, it is more cost effective to buy a new monitor that has either DVI or HDMI.

that will work yes, as your signal will be full digital.
