Secondary internal drive

Hi, hope this isn't a daft question but is it possibe to add a second SATA internal drive to a tower PC mainly as a storage area but hardware connect it or software control it such that it doesn't spin all the time the PC and main drive is running. I could obviously just add it as an external drive and switch on/ off as required its just the PC has a spare internal 3.5" bay and it would be a neater solution.

Found this is the forum wonder will it help?
Go to Control Panel-> Power Options, then click on "Change Plan Settings" for the plan you use. Then, click on "Change Advanced Power settings". In the window that opens, expand "hard disk" by clicking on the plus sign against it. Then click on the plus sign against "Turn hard disk after" and set it to "Never". Click on Apply, OK.

But yes, hard drives may wear out faster if they keep spinning all the time, although theres another theory that starting and stopping is worse. Instead of Never, you can also set another longish interval of choice.

Thanks maxie, but this applies to the main hard disk, not the secondary one which I was going to add, and there does not seem to be anything to select this....

Any more suggestions out there ??
