Security BOOBOO

Hi. I need help badly. I was playing around with the security as an admin. On the part were you allow access, i accidentally selected wherein the user has control of everything. in the middle of the change i clicked on cancel and just cancelled all the things i have done. i am the admin on the laptop and now i cant even access my drive c wherein it says restricted. i would try to take ownership but it does not allow me. the window i also have open for ie 8 would go out for some sites and i am not able to open them, it would continoiusly try to reconnect to the same site with no avail. i need help please. very badly. i would like to know what steps i can do to reverse the major booboo i did....HELP PLEASE

Hey.

You can use system restore to a point from before you did this.

If you don't have any restore points, then you can follow this.

Try doing a system restore to a point before you messed it up...

Another example of why not to use an administrator account for every day use..

If running system restore as an admin account doesn't work, then performing a repair install from the link I posted is the best way to go.

Format the drive and do a clean install...

Do a clean install but formatting is not necessary. If you don't format, it will put everything existing on the drive in to a Windows.old folder at root.

If you have nothing you want to keep on the drive, then formatting would be best.

Once to new desktop, you can copy/paste whatever you want out of there. Then use disk cleanup to remove Windows.old.

i think ill do a clean install...only thing is...i went on the forums on how to do a clean install and i got lost on how to go to #1 and #2---

1. Boot the computer from your Windows 7 installation DVD.
NOTE: Make sure that the CD/DVD drive is selected first in the boot order in your BIOS settings. Usually it is by default.

2. When prompted, press any key to boot from the installation DVD. (See screenshot below)
NOTE: You will only have about 8 seconds to press this key. If you miss it, you will have to restart the computer.

Did you insert the DVD and then restart your system? Do you get a message similar to Press any key to boot from CD...? When you see that message, press a key on the keyboard. Follow the rest of the instructions in this Tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html

The only other option I can think of is trying to take ownership of the entire C drive ... This will take some time, but at this point I dont have any other ideas...See Brinks tutorial on how to do this -=> Here

i have tried everything that i can go through here in the forum. when ever i do try them, i get stuck whenever i try ti access drive c. it always says restricted. i am able to save it but not able to open it. i also have not partioned my drive. i also tried it through the bios and failed. if any of you can access my pc remotely by gotomeeting or something like that...will be glad to let you guys give it a shot...
