Hi, Wicca.

First things, first -- change your e-mail password. Then change the password for the game sites, preferably making each of them different, and most definitely different from your e-mail password.

Next, it wouldn't hurt to update your antivirus software and scan your computer.

If you are using the same password everywhere, it is possible, as that does appear to happen at game sites. That is why I advised you to change all your passwords, making them different for each site.

Have you updated your antivirus and/or anti-malware software and run a full system scan?

how do i know for 100 percent if i have been hacked

well...........
1.check sent e-mails
2.gmail lists last few ips....don't know about other email services though.It gives an indication of fishy activity.
3.run a scan with hitman/mbam etc as advised

some precautions
don't have common password for all sites/do not let browsers etc remember passwords

Hi, Wicca.

In that case, it sounds as though you had registered at that site and forgotten, as you indicated in your initial post.

Hi, Wicca.

In that case, it sounds as though you had registered at that site and forgotten, as you indicated in your initial post.

I agree with that and.or maybe a friend or family member knows your information and used it to register on a site.

You probably were not hacked. Problem is, you can't be absolutely sure. So in addition to changing the password, I recommend you also change the following if applicable:

* Any personal information
* PINs
* Secret questions and answers
* Any email addresses associated with the account
* And anything else that might be use for account validation and recovery

If you don't, and if someone did hack your account, it's very possible that you could find it hacked again.

Have you updated your antivirus and/or anti-malware software and run a full system scan?

Have you done as Corrine has suggested?

It may be possible that you have somehow managed to get a keylogger on your system.

but how can i know if i am hacked

The fact is, it's hard to tell sometimes. Malware/Viruses nowadays, for the most part, run as quietly as possible, trying not to draw attention to themselves in the hopes of staying on the system longer.

You can d/l tools to check, such as Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Malwarebytes

http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

After you d/l these & get the latest definitions, run a full system scan with both. That could take a while, but better to be on the safe side

If you want to do a further search, you can check the task manager and make sure all the processes running are legitimate. You can also d/l Process Explorer which will give you more information:

Windows Sysinternals: Documentation, downloads and additional resources

Some of the more common signs of being hacked are lots of pop ups, slow system performance, and high internet usage when you are not using any programs.

It's a PIA, but keeping your PC safe nowadays requires monitoring everything regularly.

A good firewall is a definite must have item also
