Security on Google Drive

I'm trying to use OneDrive (formerly M'soft's SkyDrive) to create a repository of information for my family tree that happens to have quite a bit of sensitive contact info on it that if an identity hacker were to seize upon it would hit the mother lode, if you catch my drift. So, I'm wondering if anyone here is aware of what security measures Google has, and what suggestions anyone might have to assure security.

There is no security on the internet regardless of what they are telling you. I would recommend to use a good old external disk. That is a LOT safer.

Google doesn't know much about security of online content,
One day the illusion of Private might be posted as public via a settings quirk that happens about every year +-

Anyway you can just encrypt your files before you upload or share them:

I'd say it's best to assume that cloud storage is insecure regardless of any claims that state otherwise. At the end of the day those files are stored in a location that's beyond your control.

Or just don't bother and backup to DVD's/ USB's and keep a couple of copies.
