Solved Security update for .NET Framework 3.5.1

This important update (KB2804579)was offered today along with several others. However, I no longer have version 3.5.1, having upgraded to .NET Framework 4.5. Do I need the update for the program no longer on my computer, and, if not, why would it be offered?

.NET versions are additive, not replacements.
Windows 7 comes with v3.5 integrated, and this requires updates.
