Can you be 100% secure in Windows - of course you cannot. You have the usual standard setup and with luck, you should be OK.

I would not do any sensitve web operations such as on-line banking from such a system. I run those operations from a virtual Linux system or from a Linux system on a flash drive. That is 100 times safer - but still not 100%. But then, what is 100% safe.

Corruption can be transferred from one computer to another very easily,
I'd take notice to the mbam suggestion and possibly make the mbam premium push soon,
I'd say a savings could be where Avast is,
With mbam premium you would be just fine with avast free or panda free for that matter but also with a spoon full of whs's reply ;)

I would add the obvious things here.

Always use a standard account for normal use, leaving an admin account only for doing admin-only things.
Use a firewall, with a proper set of very restrictive rules.
Use common sense! Take caution when downloading things from unknown sites, strange emails, dubious websites and the like. More often than not, the problem is that the user himself does something that he should not do.
Make sure you do frequent backups of all important data, just in case. Not only for security, but also in case of hardware failures.

Here is also a more advanced guide on the matter, to make Windows really safe: http://hardenwindows7forsecurity.com/Harden Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit - Standalone.html
