Solved Selecting not working right

Hi -
This may sound weird, but it's really annoying, especially in Excel.

There's something wrong with using the mouse to make a selection. It feels like a click has become the same thing as a double-click. I spend a lot of time in Excel, and there it's driving me nuts.

When I try to paint a range in Excel, I don't get a painted range. Instead, the first cell in the range is opened for editing. I have to try over and over to get the range to paint without opening the first cell.

My version of Windows 10 says that it is current and up-to-date. I uninstalled Microsoft Office and reinstalled, which did nothing at all. Sometimes I reboot the computer, thinking that the computer just needs a refresher. No effect.

Any help will be appreciated.

The first thing to do would be to try another mouse.

Is your mouse wired or wireless?

Check in Device Manager for Driver issues.

Run System File Checker.

Scan for Malware.

My version of Windows 10 says that it is current and up-to-date.
