Hi all,

I'm facing the following issue : I'm trying to run two programs at the same time but are both troubled by the UAC level.

  1. Program 1 does work when the UAC is at level D (lowest) and doesn't work otherwise. In any case, it bugs if ran as administrator
  2. Program 2 does work when the UAC is at level C (just above the lowest) but not if the UAC is at level D. (how strange !)

Is there a way to keep UAC at level C (so that programm 2 works well) and bypass it for Programm 1 without running it as administrator ?

Any help would be gladly appreciated !

Hello Adrien, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If a program requires "Run as administrator", then it must have it to run with the access rights it needs.

However, you could use the method in either tutorial below to create an elevated shortcut to run the program with "Run as administrator" without disabling UAC and no longer get a UAC prompt.

Hope this helps, :)

Hello Brink,

Thank you for your answer. I tried these method, but the very problem is that my programm doesn't work when launched as administrator.

Is it possible to avoid UAC without runing as administrator ?

Thanks !

Odd. Do you get any error messages? What programs are these?

The two programs are driving some scientific instruments.

I don't get a proper error message, but both indicate in their own ways that they are unable to communicate with the instrument. Has the UAC any consequence on USB communication ?

UAC is only to prompt you for permission to allow something to run elevated (Run as administrator) or not.

You might contact the publishers of those programs to see what they have to say, and if they may have an update for this.
