Self Inflicted conflicts! Opinion on solution!

Hello to all,
I am used to using Norton 2012 AV and Comodo Firewall. I was going to expire on Norton and of course they just happened to have a special on, same price for NIS. So I CHOSE to buy NIS. Ignorance caught up to me. NIS has a firewall and I found it running along with Comodo. Since I have always used to good effect the Comodo firewall, I found out how to disable the NIS firewall. Now I have come to find that NIS antimalware is also running along with Comodo antimalware. My question is in this situation, what is the major opinion on my options. Should I if possible disable the NIS antimalware, or disable the Comodo antimalware. Or dump Comodo and trust NIS to handle the situations. I am personally uncomfortable with the last choice and thus I need advice.

UM, From a Stability (BSOD) perspective only, almost anything is preferable to Norton (IMHO)

Go to community.norton.com. Find your way to the subforum for NIS or NAV. Patiently find a thread with a link for human chat support.

Speaking with a human, communicate your situation.

You may have to offer a solution: have Support help you switch from NIS back to NAV without paying extra. Support must be involved to apply a new NAV license key in lieu of the purchased NIS license key.

I would get rid of Commodo. I never had any problems with NIS on ystems since years.

I personally don't use Norton any longer, but two in my household still do (360) and it appears to be doing a good job at the moment. Dual firewalls is for sure an issue, I'm not so sure two malware programs if they aren't having an issue with each other are really a problem.

That seems to be a prevailing theme, seriously. Having used the AV for years I never had a stability issue I was aware of. Now in reference to the firewall and antimalware, that is all new. So to summarize, I should use as little of Norton as possible, preferably for most, not at all? Thanks for your response and opinion.

Howdy, that is how I found out how to turn off the firewall, I am thinking I probably should have stayed as you indicate with Norton Antivirus alone. Glad for you opinion as thoughts on a solution!

Really. I am heartened to hear this. Most opinions seem to strongly oppose that option. Having gotten such good info from you in the past, you are making question the trend. Thanks for an alternate viewpoint. Not making a choice easy !

Hello and thanks for your response and opinions. Do you recall the benefits of 360 over NIS? So you aren't vehemently Norton opposed, so that is another difference of opinion. Thanks for the information on the dual firewalls and such. May not be as bad off as I think!

IMO, the NIS 2012 firewall and anti-malware are superior to COMODO. I use NIS on my desktop and COMODON IS Complete on my laptop and I find NIS to work better. That's my two cents.

The reality is that most folks dislike Norton from it's old resource hogging days but if you do some research on Google for the best Security Suites of 2012 it's usually number 1 across the board. COMODO is typically number 1-3 for FREE solutions. On a different note, NIS optimization features are superior to Windows defrag.

It has been my understanding NIS optimization uses the default Windows defrag. There is no separate Norton defragmentation program/routine/subroutine.

Thank ya for the information, I knew that the originnal Windows defrag was purchased from Norton and incorporated into the OS. take care!

I still stand by liking NIS over COMODO and own both paid-for versions.
