Sending Dolby Digital signals to external reciever?

Being a dev, you mostly have a testbox or partition where you do work without the worry of destruction. On that note, I promise you it installs without touching the native codecs and that it uninstalls cleanly leaving no foul residue.

You really should have a look at my pack. I think you'll be impressed with the Settings interface that I have created which is a fantastic tool for troubleshooting with.

I concur. It seems to be well packaged unlike some other codec packs I've used.

fraseyboy - did you sort yout DD surround out yet ??

I know my W7 set-up works OK as I can use MPCHC and it plays MKVs just fine (including using CUDA) and outputs DTS to my surround system.

I do not have ffdshow installed, just CoreAVC Professional (v1.95) and AC3filter, with passthrough set for SPDIF.

I also get DOLBY D from AC3 encoded AVI files as well.

I also got ATS from an MP4 file, but I changed something and now don't get it !!

WMC does not do any of this !!

I'm running W7 build 7600.

Still not fixed. I get exactly the same thing.

If you have K-lite Codec Pack installed...

Start ----> All Programs ----> K-Lite Codec Pack ----> Configuration ----> ffdshow audio decoder

Once the ffdshow audio decoder window opens click on Output (bottom left side)

Then put a check mark on AC3 & DTS under pass-through

Click apply, OK & your done.. you will now get Dolby Digital and DTS on your receiver!

Seeing as Music in WMC is just WMP12 inside WMC, Open Windows Media Player, start a song that was encoded with Dolby Digital, switch to now playing view, right click on main area, select:

Enhancements>Dolby Digital Settings>select the proper mode. (Theater)

Also, have you selected Single RCA (Digital) in WMC Settings>General>Windows Media Center Setup>Set up your Speakers ?

I also would like to acknowledge the many Network Media Players that work with W7:

Newegg.com - network media player

I use a Roku Network Media Player M-1000 (older model but works great) which has an optical output that outputs to the optical input on my HT Receiver (which supports Windows Media). I have consolidated all my music in one location on our LAN and share it, the music library on my Windows Home Server. I can use PlayTo to control the ROKU, play playlists, internet radio, and not be using resources from my PC to do so as it is actually streaming from another PC, the WHS. The Roku is also wireless. As such, I have a TRULY digital music experience and my PC is available for other tasks.

Also, any other PC on my LAN can play or PlayTo the Roku/HT setup.

WHS also dupicates the media across drives so if one dies I just replace it and I am all set.
