You can run Apache on Windows at home too.

I'm currently using the XAMP pack subject in my Web Design course (for my PHP).
X = Cross-platform
A = Apache
M = MySQL
P = PHP

That setup is small enough to run from a flash stick. :)

Thank you both, but rvcjew is right; I have no idea what this is all about. Since it does not appear to be any virus, I will just ignore it. I am surprised however that I never saw this message in the past. Sincerly, Ana

Did you install any new software just before the message started appearing?

You may want to check your Task Manager Process tab to see if "httpd.exe" is running.

If you have Process Explorer, use that instead as it provides more information.
You can right click on a process and choose "Properties" from the context menu.
It should show you the path to the program that started the process.

I have not seen it since my first post. I have 10 explorer. If it happens again I will try to remember the web that caused the message. Thank you, Ana

Hi there
Apache is an OPEN SOURCE web server that runs on many platforms (LAMP/WAMP being the most popular - L/W = Linux / Windows, A = apache, M = MySQL Data base system P = Php).

It IMO is far superior to the Ms piece of cludge known as IIS.

However why it should be appearing on your windows system is confusing unless you are running an internet server or accessing one on a website somewhere.

Cheers
jimbo
