Does anybody else know if Windows 7 will release a Service Pack 2, or will they continue to have patch Tuesday as a substitute

Patch Tuesday for the foreseeable future. No official word on SP2 exists.

I'd expect Windows 8 to receive it's first SP before any concrete mention of 7 getting a SP2.

You can probably forget about anymore service packs for Windows 7.
Microsoft is too busy whipping the hell out of that dead horse called Windows 8 and 8.1 :p

Microsoft has stated quite firmly that there isn't going to be an SP2 for Windows 7. There are hot-fix rollups but that isn't really the same thing. There may be an SP2 from a third party but should be avoided.
