Services not loading automatically

I have a new Dell laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I have SQL Server 2008 Express installed on it. In the Configuration Manager, I have specified StartupMode = Automatic for the SQL Server service. However, most of the time it doesn't start automatically. I have to execute the Configuration Manager and start it manually.

I thought it was a problem with SQL Server and so was seeking help from a SQL forum. All they could suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling SQL Server.

Lately I've realized that LogMeIn Hamachi also doesn't always start automatically as it should. That made me think that it might be a Windows problem and not necessarily a SQL problem.

In the Services tab of msconfig, both LogMeIn Hamachi and SQL Server are listed and checked; they both happen to be running right now.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could check or do to make these services start automatically? Thanks!

I rebooted the system about 20 minutes ago. There don't appear to be any errors in the event log since that time that relate to SQL Server. There's one error that I don't think is related:

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

Hamachi frequently has issues and causes issues with almost every computer I work with if it's installed. Usually uninstalling it solves the problem. I would suggest giving that a go before a clean install! Worth a shot at least.

All right

Could you also check the reliability history and check (go to start and on the search bar type "reliability history" .... or you could go to Action center> Maintenance > View reliability history

This would give a simpler overview of the whole system with error and stuff
