Services, Protocols and clients

On a new Widows 7 x64 Ultimate install, which is just a stand alone system. What Services, Protocols and clients do I actualy NEED.

If you require internet, at least:

Client for Microsoft Windows
Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

and nothing else is necessary.

Before doing anything do the test here:

IPv6 test - IPv6/4 connectivity and speed test

and here:

Test your IPv6.

to check whether your ISP has IPv6 capable connections.

Beyond that, a standalone PC running Windows 7 is supposed to be designed to be running IPv6 and the supported link layers and tunnelling protocols - but they seem to be extra bits that can go wrong, and often are not fully working anyway.

If not networking, file and printer sharing is not needed.
