I have been reading included tutorial for the past hour or two and am more confused than before I started.

1 Desktop PC wired to a Netgear DGN2000 router. PC name Desktop
1 Laptop PC connects to router OK. PC name Laptop
-
Both PC's are on a 'Home' network.
-
Workgroup = both with exactly same name.
-
Both PC's are Win7 Home Prem
-
First step was to create a Homegroup on Desktop. easy peasy.
Second step, attempt to join Laptop to Desktop 100% failure.
-
In Services - Homegroup Listener is stopped/manual, tried to start but failed.

I think your problem is Home Premium. dont quote me but I think Professional lowest level OS that you can set up an home group on. Professional has Windows Server Domain, Home Premium does not.

Thanks cokane, I did see the option to join a homegroup while attempting to, but forgot to save generated password, so cleared everything and started again and got a 100% failure.
