hi!

I have been searching for some info.

My new PC doesn't exhibit the desired behaviour, but I don't know how to fix it.

On this build, when I run a command-prompt (even if I run cmd, without CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER), it starts elevated

This is nice, but what's really important is, whenever I run a batch that requires admin rights, it works.

Here's the prompt opening when I run attachtimmy

This (like many of the batch files) requires admin rights, and works, as if cmd.exe has been set to run in admin mode.

On both UAC is disabled (lowered to lowest setting), so I don't get pestered for permission...

I've looked at local sec policy, and built-in admin rights elevation, but it looks untouched

any ideas?

I know you can add "run as admin", but this is not the default action for batch files (on both systems default action is open).

UPDATE: I've checked the reg for instances of the "Layers" key, to see if this is how I've done it... no instances of "runasadmin" for cmd.exe

(tempted to do this if it just works... but would be really nice to ascertain how it's currently being achieved)

any processMonitor jedi's out there confirm if this could be determined using THE analysis tool?

this page speculates lots on why it "must be like this"... but, as none are the case for me, I assume it doesn't cover every scenario.

another mystery.
