setting up dual display

I am new to duel monitor setup so take it easy on me guys.

Ok i was trying to connect a secondary monitor. As I have never done it before, so I watched a video tutorial on cnet.
According to that I connected the second monitor to the computers on board VGA port but I am not getting any display on my secondary monitor.

please can anyone throw some light on it.....

Yeah, I just tried that and I don't think it is going to work. At least on my rig the bios auto disabled the onboard video so there is no way to have both. You should first check your bios to see if you can enable the onboard video?

How are you wanting to use this computer? Gaming, video intensive, or just more room to see app windows? What is your minimum memory requirement for your choice of video card? 'cause there are inexpensive ways to get you 2 or more monitors. Let me know?

Apparently your 6200 uses S-video,composite and VGA so you should try using two of those because the onboard VGA is disabled when you are running a seperate graphics card.

You may also need the latest Nvidia drivers for your 6200. You will also need to go into the Nvidia control panel to set up dual monitors.

I have tried to configure my bios setting but cannot enable my onboard graphics. I want more room for my apps that is why I need the second display.

I dont want display on both my monitors. So do not recommend those VGA splitters.

So what do I do now?

I did find a post about enabling dual monitors with the 6200 here. NVIDIA Forums > 6200SE won't make use of S-Video out.

I am trying to connect a moniter not a tv.
In order to use S-vedio port I need S-vedio to VGA adapters right??
But i am not sure if it is available in the market....

It looks like a VGA splitter is the only way to get the dual monitor for your setup septprince...I would honestly reccomend a new GFX if your dying for the double monitor setup

I ma not so desperate. I am not gonna waste a large some of money on this old rig because by the end of next month I am going to set up a new rig..

I'm with you. Don't spend a lot of money on an old rig. You still have some options, even with this old rig. If you have a PCI slot available, you can put a cheap (as in ebay) video card and get your two monitors.

A better solution is a single video card that supports two monitors. I am looking at a Matrox G45+ MDHA32D/DEL AGP video card with 32MB memory. Not something to play video games with, but will support two monitors. I did a quick check of ebay (USA) and found one for $6 and one for $10 USD. If you plan to continue to use your old rig even after you get your new rig that's not a lot of money?

In defense of the video splitters, even though I don't have $350 USD laying around for such, the Matrox DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go really make sense to me. They are a one time investment in technology that can be used with whatever video card you have at the time. You can upgrade your video card and spend less on the card because you can attach 2 or 3 monitors for aps or gaming with the adapter. You don't need an expensive video card that will support multiple monitors at 1600 X 1200 or whatever. If you get a new computer you can move the splitter to the new computer.

Its on my wish list. I want to do the flight sim thing with three monitors so I can see out the right and left windows without loosing my orientation. I'll never fly the real thing but ....

I have in the past used matrox dual head analogue converter [when using xp not win7] and all was perfect so you might want to try this method HOWEVER, i am not able to get the resolution right on the 2 monitors now that i am using win7
