Setting up keyboard for Halo 2

Finally got Vista version of Halo 2 working on my Win7-64 machine. Everything looks good.....but cannot get keyboard settings to change. Selected the customized route and tried to "delete" the default and replace with my choice and got the "that key is already assigned" message. How can I override the defaults (in the primary column. Worked great in the secondary column; was able to delete fine).....??????....

I had this issue with the game back in thr day. if I remeber right you need to delete any use of the key you intend to use before assigning it to a different job.
