Well what would you suggest for an inexpensive, BSOD free, lightweight, good detection AV software? Please enlighten me. My advice is reflective of my own opinions, and nothing else.

Now you see? Please tell us what it is that you see. Please also tell us what incentive Microsoft would have for giving us a kickback for something they give away for free.

Have you considered that maybe we recommend it because it is free, it works well, is resource light and does not interfere with system files like other AV programs do? There is also the possibility that the people who wrote the OS may know best what system files are supposed to be there and where they are supposed to be.

actually ,this thread is to congratulate those recognised by microsoft for their contributions ( positive contributions)
i think the thread needs cleaning up a little,
you could post a question in the general discussion area as to whether the members of the forum here recommend MSE because we want to curry favor with MS.
that should be an interesting thread, in fact post it in the chillout room and then we can go to town.

User Poll?

MSE is the recommended av by most users here ,its a personal preference but a logical one also

Is there a poll which supports that statement?

I used AVG on my previous install (I didn't have any problems with it).

On my latest install I thought that I'd try Avast to see if it is better or worse.
It has the same annoying feature that AVG had a couple of years ago.
It insists on scanning everything that I try to run (even if I add it to the exceptions list).
Apart from that it seems OK.

Back on topic.
Congratulations to everyone who has received awards since my previous post. :)

I doubt that. All discussion and suggestion are based on free opinions and self preferences. Hope you will "see" it differently if you stay tuned with the the forums much longer

Nah, I don't think there is, but just from experience alone you will see MSE suggested far more than anything else. This is especially the case if you visit the BSOD section, where aVast is often (but not always) implicated in BSOD's, and replacing it with MSE results in a nice stable system.

no not really, there ought to be with all the bloomin which AV threads there have been here.
