Hi,

I don't know what's happening (even if I solved it 2 months ago when it came up for the 1st time : silly me I can't remember how)...
When I open an explorer windows with tons of files and I scroll thru the files, windows lose the focus and keep going back to the 1st file. I have the same issue with menus/submenus, when going down a long one (like configuration panel) the bar climbs up to the 1st entry.

I had it some weeks ago and solved it (I don't remember how unless remembering saying "woaaa, that was that simple ?") but it is not a keyboard/mouse issue as swapping them does nothing.

Please come to my rescue as it is mind blowing and so frustrating !

Try checking out the Video driver and the monitor settings. If your monitor has buttons on the front, reset the monitor to the factory settings. Maybe your machine is trying to work at settings that aren't optimal or even unstable.

Good luck,

It was an interesting idea but unfortunately it led to nowhere.

I found something strange : selecting multiple folders in an arborescence, I wanted to use shift-del to permanently delete them but pressing SHIFT got me into one of the selected folders, like if I clicked it. There is defintely something going around data entrry/interaction.

If ever I did note the solution when I found it last time. Sure I will put it in a text file this time.

@Phredtx
Well.. Thank you for your input as it led me to solve my issue !

At first, I've checked your idea of display driver issuethen seeing it was up to date..ish, as I have an ati radeon hd 5830 with the last driver released in 2016 by AMD, I couldn't do better.
Then I noticed that windows didn't put my monitor to sleep after 10mns beiing idle... I did scratched my head, tried to go back in time with restoration points with no luck.
Then I had the idea to log into my fresh win11... Had the same issue : obviously this didn't relate to a software issue.
Turned off wireless eyboard/mouse, use standard ones with cord, no change. Disconnect every peripheral on the box back.... Baam : SOLVED.

I have in fact a semi faulty usb port to which is connected the RF receiver for keyborad/mouse that was the culprit.
The 1st time I had this issue, I came to the same conclusion, conected the RF in front of my box and, silly me, put it back some weeks later where it was. It worked for some time then restarted poisonning windows.

So thank you and issue solved.
