Hi, I am using Windows 7 64 Bit, and am getting several BSOD only while gaming/watching videos. I have caught the name of 2 BSOD's, which are BAD_POOL_CALLER, and PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA. I have done some research and some people found out that it was faulty RAM. I did the test MemTest86+ and got 1 error. (Failing Address: 000444aad80 , GOOD: b7895a6d, BAD: b5895a6d, ERR Bits: 02000000, Count:1,Amount: 1092.6MB)
I have two sticks of 2GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM. I have a clean install of Windows 7, all hardware is updated to the latest drivers. No virus protection at all. Very minimal programs installed on my computer. If anyone has any info as to why this is happening , please respond. Thank you.

(EDIT: Uploaded minidump, 2 files of the 2 BSOD's so you guys can help me out) Thanks.

Well, it could be many things, but you already said it's bad RAM...so...have you tried new RAM sticks?

Also, you might want to get on that Anti-Virus. No one is immune.

I do not know if it is the RAM or not, I was saying that other people have found that these BSOD have come up because of faulty RAM. My story might be a different case, I just wanted to come here and ask the pros before I RMA my RAM, because I do not have any other ram sticks.

Well, it could be graphics card drivers, but it's more likely that if there's an error with the RAM, that it's the RAM. Try upgrading/uninstalling and reinstalling your graphical drivers.

Hi -

The bugchecks on the 2 kernel dumps -

0xc2 (0x7,,,) = thread attempted to free memory already freed

0x50 = invalid memory referenced

A DirectX component driver was named probable cause in 0xc2; NT Kernel (default) named in 0x50.

A few items to do -

1. Remove Daemon Tools/ Alcohol 120

2. Update your Realtek NIC -
Code:

Check Device Manager for Realtek device info -
START | devmgmt.msc

The fact that DirectX is mentioned means it would be good for you to update your graphics drivers.

I went to download the ATI Drivers and noticed that they just put a new update today. It is mainly for bug fixes while using Adobe Flash Player 10.1. This is where I usually crash is when I am watching youtube videos with Adobe Flash Player. I am still worried about the RAM error, will do another memtest and come back with results in the morning.

am I guessing right its p55?

my new system has had 2 bsod on win7 in the space of 24 hours, before that I had used win7 for many months under all sorts of stress and rock solid on multiple machines.

like yourself my ram passes memtest.

seems the p55 architecture and especially with foxconn is flawed because googling shows a LOT of hits on bsod and instability in general.

I think you on to something with the idle stuff possibly because I noticed my cpu will often go from idle (half clock) straight to turbo mode (20% overclock) thats a big variance in power demand, I have 1600 ram but its only running at SPD settings which is 1333 and cpu also at stock. I really hope my bsod's are software related but past experience and the randomness of it points to hardware.

edit: my computer used to jump to 2.8GHz from 1.2GHz but after a reformat i did a couple days ago it is staying stable at 1.2GHz idle.

I have not had a bsod for a bit now although obviously I need more time to be more confident but here are some things I did.

1 - I first fully removed jmicron drivers of system as they were listed in a bsod coredump debug I did even tho I had disabled the drivers in device manager, so made sure the drivers were removed of the hdd.
2 - I downclocked the ram to 1066.
3 - I set enabled on the xtreme phase bios option (disables power saving for board, new feature so not confident in its stability and I think minimal power saving, cpu still power saves as normal).
4 - upgraded sound card drivers since bsod also happened during playing mp3 (very unlikely they were cause so more of precaution).

at this point I had no bsod since making these changes but obviously frustrated downclocking the ram so much.

4 - I then set the ram back to 1333.
5 - increased ram voltage to 1.65v from 1.5v, the listed ram spec is 1.65v at 1600, and it was running at 1.5v due to SPD setting 1333 @ 1.5v.
6 - increased IMC voltage from 1.1v to 1.15v
7 - manually configured some ram timings to match listed timing spec.

Since this no bsod at 1333 speeds and have even stress tested with linx app. linx apparently is more stressful than even prime95. Given the frequency of the bsod's I have had if I get as far as a week without one I will be confident I have it fixed. It does seem these p55 are defenitly flaky with ram access.

I just had another bsod whilst downloading updates, these p55 are problematic indeed, most unstable pc I have ever built.

I noticed a ram timing was set wrong in the bios and have corrected it, if I get another bsod I will set the timings more conservative than rated. Obviously if its a board or cpu issue tho it will be fruitless, (IMC on cpu now so cpu issue can cause this).

Hi Friend,

Have you tried adding the folder of the game you are playing to your anti-virus's exception? Mine was hanging because of my anti-virus all along. I thought it was my video card. Most games are treated as trojan or anti-virus by Anti-Viruses such as avast. So try adding it in the exception.
