SF Diagnostic Tool - Using for Troubleshooting

Using SF Diagnostic Tool v5 For Troubleshooting

   Information
The SF Diagnostic Tool and SF Debug Tool is used to collect diagnostic information from your computer required to analysis Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and other troubleshooting purposes for Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

You must be logged in as an administrator to be able to use either tool.

   Note
SF Diagnostic Tool created by Shyam (Capt.Jack Sparrow).

Changelog for 5.0.0.6
  • Fixed typo in button
  • Added DXDIAG log
  • Added System Info Log - Log will also contain product ID, I was told with product ID we could find if Windows is genuine or not.
  • Minor bug fixes
   Warning
Some antivirus or firewall programs may detect SF Diagnostic Tool as a Trojan. It's just a False positive because the publisher is unknown.

There is nothing to worry about as the SF Diagnostic Tool is 100% safe and will not harm your computer.

Here's How:

1. Click/tap on the Download button below to download SF Diagnostic Tool.
Download

2. Save the ZIP file to your desktop, open it, and extract (drag and drop) the SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe file to your desktop.

3. Right click on or press and hold the extracted SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe file, and click/tap on Run as administrator.

4. If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Yes.

5. Click/tap on the Grab All button, and click/tap on OK for each notice dialog until it's finished.screenshot.png
Success.jpg
6. You will now have a folder saved on your Desktop with the name of SF_DD_MM_YYYY (SF_day_month_year) that includes the information from each button in the tool.

7. ZIP the SF_DD_MM_YYYY folder, then rename the ZIP folder to your user name here at Vista Forums, Seven Forums, or Eight Forums.

8. When you are finished, you can close the SF Diagnostic Tool.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
2, I have given the default location %userprofile%\Desktop as the default location. If it's not accessible then the tool will not work. If it's not getting created that means the default locations in the registry is messed up.

cptn - it became invisible

i ran the program. the first time it created the folder on my DT.
I decided i messed it up because i only had one entry in the folder after running 3-4 items so i deleted the folder and started over.
now the folder does not show up on my DT, but it is creating files - somewhere.
if i run an item more than once it will ask if i want to replace it.
where did the folder go?????

OK, I found it.....
small issue with ur program
After I deleted the original folder it created on my desktop - it created the next folder in the root under its own created Desktop folder.

Hello Ruggb and Homeuser66,

I sent a message to the program developer to make him aware of this issue to see what he may be able to do for this. Hopefully he'll have a solution soon. :)

Hey, if it helps. I installed 2 120GB SSD's in a RAID0 and changed my target path for all MY DOCUMENTS, PICTS, ECT... to my D: Drive...maybe that is why it was on another drive, but it should have still shown on the Desktop anyway...

I thought this might be useful information, so I replied with it....Hope it helps!

Sorry rahul268, I can't help much, as after I created the folder with the files, I couldn't even find it when I searched "Seven Forums" on my computer. It wasn't even found anywhere...I manually stumbled upon it by accident looking for something else...but just for Ha-Ha's.....How many hard drives do you have installed on your PC? Look in each one for a "Desktop" folder and see if it's in there...that's where I found mine...in that folder on a different HDD....but still under My user name...

Hope that helps?

Hey Homeuser66.. No, it's not that I can't find the location of the "Seven Forums" folder. I can find that folder just fine, it's right there on my Desktop. The problem I'm having, is that apart from System Information, my computer fails to collect any other information into that folder. It throws up an error saying it "could not complete the operation" for every other file except System Info. So I was wondering of there was some other way I could find the rest of those files. Or if there was any other way to go about this.

Hello Rehul and Homeuser,

The issue is that the SF Diagnostic Tool is looking for everything to be on the C: drive. If you moved your user folders, user profile, etc... to be on another driver letter instead, then that is why it's unable to find them. For now, it will not work fully unless everything is still on C.

Shyam is working on a solution to this now, and will update when he is able to.

Brink,

Thanks for your response, but I doubt whether that could be the reason in my case, since all my information has always been on C: and all my data on D:

But I shall still wait for Shyam to finish his final tests and post the newer version. Thanks.

Brink,

Somehow this time I tried, the new version did not work for me, while the old one did. I have no idea what changed, I dod nothing different, but when the new version would not work again, I went back to the old one, and it worked somehow, and I now have all the needed files. Thank you so much for all your help! :) I can now go ahead and create my thread with my BSOD issue. :)
