Solved SFC couldn't repair files. Attempted to retrieve from install CD

Thank you Noel!

Oddly enough, before SFC detecting anything, i would have a lot of crashes with my dual monitor set up.
Now that I solved this with your help I haven't had crashes in a while.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could lend me a hand over here.

I've been having issues long time with my dual monitor set up crashing with video playback after a 3d application has been running. Me myself..I'm thinking it might be an issue with the card switching from 3D mode to 2D mode, but anyway.. The errors to point at a STOP 0X116 Video TDR error.

I followed the steps and was requested to follow with an SFC scan command which I did. So upon completion SFC did detect files that were corrupted, most of them have the words ATI/AMD ironically. So I'm believing they might be the culprit for my dual monitor crashes. Now. I did perform a clean driver install before this. So I find weird most of the corrupted files are ATI/AMD.dlls.

But to the point.. obviously those files are not going to be on the windows 7 installation disk.

So how could I go about fixing those corrupted files? I don't believe you can retrieve them from the installation disk as they are AMD files.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Please allow me to attach the log in case someone might be able to identify the files.

This fixed my computer when I had problems:

Go to Explorer, right click your C drive, click properties, tools, click check now, click start, click schedule……

When you restart your computer the chkdsk will run and, hopefully, fix your problem (s).

Depending on the size of your drive it may take a while.

Thanks for the tip, but NoelDp pretty much helped me to reinstate the lost files.

Thank you though!

I think it's fair to say that SFC isn't all it's cracked up to be, even when running and rebooting three times.
That said, files don't corrupt themselves - good security on all levels is essential; trouble is - though most of us have it installed, we don't use it as often as we should.
My rig is up most days for 12-14 hours, but that last hour I use for clean-up/maintenance and (knocking wood) haven't had a problem for the last three years.

SFC is VERY good at what it does, but the number of ways to break things are infinite - and such programs can only ever be expected to cover a relatively small are of the potential set.

One of the biggest problems with it is that it doesn't really cover the registry at all, and a lot of the time, these problems originate in registry corruption - or in poor system maintenance.
