I'm having trouble installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1 KB976932, after downloading the update on reboot it says updated failed and reverts changes. I ran a SFC/Scannow command and the following two errors came up as un-fixable.

These errors were in the sfcdetails notepad created. Any ideas how to fix them.

Do you have a Restore Point previous to the one made by the SP install? If that doesn't work you may have to do a repair install.

edit: if possible I would make a backup image to an external drive first. Always set up if you can to get back to where you are currently. Otherwise you can go down a slippery slope until the system is unusable. Hopefully not but it's good to be prepared with a bail out strategy.

I was hoping to be able to replace these two files fveupdate.exe and bfsve.exe from another clean windows version. Can anyone tell me what those two files are? I'm pretty sure they are related to my inability to install windows servicepack1

I was able to repair the fveupdate.exe by replacing it in the command line by and extracted fveupdate.exe file from an windows 7 dvd. The bfsve.exe file even after being replaced was still corrupt. I ran sfc/scannow and only the bfsve.exe error is left. Can someone please tell me what the bfsve.exe file is and how to fix it?
