Sharing center problem

Hey guys. I'm looking for a little help.

I've got 2 computers running win 7 and I wanted to share some files. I set up an Ad-hoc network on 1 (don't have a router) and gave it a Home profile. I joined my new network on the other but for some reason it's locked as public. I wanted to set up homegroup but can't with public profile. Usually there is a small blue link in the sharing center, but it's not blue and I can't click it. Just to clear, the computer that I set the ad-hoc up on is working fine with home profile. The other that I'm trying to connect with is connected, but It's locked as public.

Any ideas?

i just realized i put this thread in the wrong section. it was meant for networking n sharing. not really sure how to move it without having 2 open threads.

sorry about this, but hopefully i can still get some suggestions.
